For those who don't follow the NFL, a title is laughingly conferred on the last player to be drafted in any given year; the title of "Mr. Irrelevant". It's awarded because the player is not very likely to succeed in his chosen profession (football), and will likely be cut before the end of training camp the following summer.
But there's another "Mr. Irrelevant" these days. Usually one appears every 4 - 8 years coming out of Washington, D.C. to coincide with the start of the last year of a particular presidential term of office. Some are more irrelevant than others, but none have reached the level of the latest "Mr. Irrelevant" - Barack Obama.
At least, as far as I am concerned.
I have the Fox News app on my smartphone. As such, I get news alerts which show up on my phone whenever allegedly important news breaks. Many times, I tap on the alert to see what might have happened, but one type of alert I never tap on is any one which begins with the words "President Obama to speak . . .".
Let's face it; is there ANYTHING he might say at this point in his term of office that most people are willing to listen to? Not here. Whether it's trumpeting another phony accomplishment, or grandstanding against those he disagrees with, or simply pandering to another constituency, there is little to nothing Barack Obama can say that is either true, or relevant.
About the only good thing Obama's been good at, is polarizing one faction against another, whether it be along racial lines, economic situation, or political beliefs. For someone who had such promise for many (not THIS writer, however), he has literally and single-handedly destroyed the fabric of this nation which once bound us together - our diversity.
Everything is not a simple black and white proposition, but "Mr. Irrelevant" has made it so.
Hi! I'm Dave Richard, your host. I hope you enjoy your visit. We'll be talking about current events, politics, the occasional sports (I'm a HUGE New England Patriots fan, so get over it), and some "Get off my lawn!" issues.
